Several board-certified gynecologists perform their gynecologic surgeries using robotic tools. Robotic (or "robot-assisted") gynecologic surgery is a minimally invasive type of surgery in which the physician uses the tiny and precise "arms" of a special surgical tool to perform the procedure. These robotic tools can operate through incisions that are too small for the physician's fingers; they also allow the doctor to manipulate surgical tools in a way that would not be possible with the actual human hand.
Robotic GYN surgery may be done through just three to four small incisions, or it may occur via a single incision just inside the belly button. This is known as "single-site" robotic surgery; many hysterectomies can be done this way. Patients in need of the following procedures may be candidates for minimally invasive robot-assisted surgery:
- Removal of gynecological cysts or masses
- Hysterectomy (single-site)
- Myomectomy (removal of uterine fibroids)
- Oophorectomy (removal of the ovaries)
- Ovarian cystectomy
- Salpingectomy (removal of the fallopian tubes)
- Tubal ligation

Doulas
While doulas are not employed by MountainView Medical Group, our providers welcome them as valued members of the birthing support team who can provide continuous, non-clinical support that aligns with our mission to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care. When women choose to engage a doula for additional support during their pregnancy, we believe working together can create an empowering, respectful birth experience.
Our providers deliver at MountainView Regional Medical Center, where we are committed to respecting the role of doulas as non-clinical support professionals. We encourage teamwork among doulas, nurses, midwives and physicians, while promoting clear communication, mutual respect and a safe, inclusive and supportive birth environment. The presence of doulas can contribute to positive birth experiences and outcomes through emotional, physical and informational support; cultural humility and respectful care; and collaboration among healthcare professionals.
Doulas are welcome to support their clients while following our policies to ensure safety, privacy and high-quality care. Doulas may provide continuous emotional and physical support; assist with comfort measures and coping techniques; and support patient advocacy and informed decision-making.
